The situation on the ground in Gaza is nothing short of a catastrophe, and we cannot look away from this suffering. Here is the latest:
1.9 million people, 90% of Gaza’s population, have been displaced.
70% of Gaza’s civilian infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed, and nowhere is safe — not even hospitals and schools.
This crisis is especially dire for the 155,000 pregnant and breastfeeding women and their newborns. Damaged and inoperable hospitals, lack of fuel and health supplies, and dire hygienic conditions heighten risks for maternal and newborn morbidity and mortality.
But even when all seems hopeless, UNFPA has not stopped delivering lifesaving humanitarian aid — including enough medicine and equipment to support more than half of ALL births in Gaza since conflict erupted.
Gifts from supporters like you have delivered:
- Dignity Kits to the more than 690,000 menstruating women and girls who have limited access to menstrual hygiene products
- Obstetric care to the 13,000 pregnant women who will give birth in the next 30 days
- Direct aid to survivors of violence and other vulnerable women and girls to manage their most essential needs
Your emergency gifts are making a difference, and they are as urgent as ever as conflict nears the one-year anniversary. So, will you make an emergency gift to deliver lifesaving care to the women and girls who need it most? We set a $100,000 goal before the one-year mark and women and girls are counting on you today.
We condemn the violence in Gaza, the West Bank, and Israel, and echo the UN Secretary-General’s call for a sustained humanitarian ceasefire and the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages by Hamas. The suffering must end and peace must prevail.
Thank you for not looking away from this crisis.
