Friend, I wanted to share this with you:

I recently authored an op-ed alongside Nana Gyamfi, Executive Director of the Black Alliance for Just Immigration (BAJI) that was published in Common Dreams. In this piece, we shed light on how Donald Trump’s baseless attacks on Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio connect directly to the pervasive anti-Blackness at the center of our nation’s immigration system. We invite you to read it and share it with your friends and family to spread awareness.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen the consequences of Donald Trump’s anti-Black, anti-immigrant attacks firsthand in Springfield — from bomb threats to Proud Boys’ marches to the distribution of flyers by the Ku Klux Klan. Enough is enough. We must directly confront those who sow division and endanger our communities, especially people in positions of power.

As the op-ed makes clear:

"It is past time that we turn the page. We as a country must prioritize confronting anti-Blackness in our immigration system and reject the tired Birth of a Nation political playbook of stoking fear using immigrants of color as scapegoats. Our collective future depends on it.”

I hope you will take the time to read our op-ed and share it widely. Together, we can affirm that anti-Blackness has no place in our country’s future.
