Vote Save America

Hey –

We know you usually hear from us about donating for progressive candidates and causes, but today we’re coming with a different ask from our friends at Vote Save America Action (VSAA) and Crooked Ideas.

In the last several days, Hurricane Helene has wreaked havoc in communities across the southeast. Thousands are unhoused, and over 100 are confirmed dead. It will be days before the full scope of the damage is known and it will take time to reach all of those who need help.

Vote Save America Action and Crooked Ideas have partnered to raise money to support disaster relief efforts in states that have been impacted by the storm. More information below.

DONATE HERE

Donations will be split evenly between the following recipients:

World Central Kitchen

You may have heard of World Central Kitchen, founded by world-renowned chef and humanitarian Jose Andres. WCK is frequently first to the frontlines of humanitarian crises and natural disasters, providing fresh meals to impacted communities. And their work after Hurricane Helene is no exception, as World Central Kitchen is working to provide free, nutritious meals in Florida, North Carolina, and Georgia.

Organizing Resilience, a project by Amalgamated Charitable Foundation Inc.

Organizing Resilience has already committed $110,000 to the organizing and mutual aid groups on the ground that are working around the clock focused on the communities hardest hit; advocating for support for small businesses and workers whose employment has been impacted; and ensuring the recovery process doesn't displace or exploit vulnerable populations.

Americares Foundation

Americares is responding to the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene with teams on the ground. They respond to more than 30 natural disasters and humanitarian crises worldwide each year, establish long-term recovery projects and bring disaster-preparedness programs to communities vulnerable to disasters. Your support will allow them to deliver medicine, supplies, and emergency funding.

Feeding Tampa Bay

Feeding Tampa Bay is a food rescue and distribution organization serving West Central Florida. In the wake of Hurricane Helene, Feeding Tampa Bay is working in partnership with the Tampa Bay area Emergency Operations Centers and local emergency management operations to provide food, water, and hygiene items.

North Carolina Community Foundation

For 35 years, the North Carolina Community Foundation has been run by North Carolinians, for North Carolinians. NCCF is focused on connecting North Carolinians with the causes and organizations they care about. The NCCF Disaster Relief Fund will support non-profit community organizations in North Carolina providing vital services to meet the needs of affected communities in the aftermath of this disaster.

DONATE HERE

And because we always want to make sure your donation has the highest impact, VSAA will continuously be in touch with philanthropic groups on the ground, and will update this fund as they learn more and identify more groups in need of support.

This fund has already raised nearly $25,000 so far for hurricane relief, and it wouldn’t be possible without the help of our community of the kindest, best group of politics nerds in the business. Thank you for making a difference.

With so much gratitude,

All of us at Team VSA
