We have to talk about JD Vance.

During last night's Vice Presidential Debate, when asked about abortion, Senator JD Vance tried to walk back his anti-abortion platform — claiming he never supported a national ban. Let’s check the receipts:

JD Vance instead said he supports the “minimal national standards.” Let’s be clear: that’s just code for a national abortion ban. 

When challenged on his lies, he promoted what he called “pro-family” policies — policies that Governor Tim Walz and Vice President Kamala Harris already champion. 

Friends, abortion is a pro-family policy. 

But let’s step back for a minute. No one should be surprised by Vance. Abortion is popular and the Trump/Vance ticket knows most voters reject their platform. Both Trump and Vance are a threat to our rights and freedoms.  

Given the unpredictability of federal elections, it is more important than ever we shore up our rights and reproductive freedoms at the state and local level. We are working to elect allies who will combat abortion bans and affirm abortion rights and justice in their states.
