As we welcome LGBTQ History Month this October, I invite you to join me in celebrating the rich history, vibrant culture, and invaluable contributions of the LGBTQ community. This month is dedicated to recognizing the trailblazers who have fought tirelessly for equality and the ongoing journey toward inclusivity and acceptance. Their courage and resilience have not only transformed our laws but have also touched the hearts and minds of countless individuals, paving the way for a more just society.

In the midst of this important month, we also observe National Coming Out Day on October 11th. As a classroom teacher of over twenty years, this serves as a powerful reminder to me of the role each of us plays in fostering an environment where everyone feels safe and valued, especially our children.

As your representative, I am deeply committed to advocating for the rights and well-being of all our community members. I have supported initiatives that promote equality, combat discrimination, and ensure that all individuals have access to the resources they need to thrive. Together, we have worked towards creating a more inclusive Delaware and a more inclusive country!

As a direct result of your support, we have:

• Advanced anti-discrimination policies to protect individuals in employment, housing, and public accommodations.
• Promoted inclusive education efforts, ensuring our schools are safe and affirming spaces for all students.
• Supported mental health and healthcare services that listen to and address the needs of LGBTQ children.
• Encouraged community programs and events that foster understanding, acceptance, and support.

This time of year brings many changes—whether it's embracing new beginnings, returning to familiar routines, or simply adjusting to the changing seasons. For me, these changes are a reminder of the progress we've made and the work that still lies ahead. It's about ensuring that every person in our community can live openly and authentically without fear of prejudice or discrimination.
