Note From the Chair
Hey folks, Rita Hart here. News this week has been hectic, so I’ll get right to it; the vice presidential debate was last night! Governor of Minnesota Tim Walz shared the stage with Ohio Senator J. D. Vance, in what will likely be the final debate before the election. If you tuned in, you got to watch coach Walz go toe to toe with a man who originally became famous for bad mouthing the people of Appalachia in his memoir. He has a history of not telling the truth and that came out clearly when he refused to answer a question about whether Donald Trump lost the election in 2020. We were grateful to see Tim shine with the compassion, humility, and down-to-earth leadership we’ve all gotten to know him for. America was given the chance to judge two potential vice presidents last night, but it saw only one leader.
We also have good news coming from the yard sign front. Orders officially ended midnight on September 30th, and we’re excited to see our expectations for how many we’d sell when we first announced the project have been exceeded by several thousand. Support for Vice President Harris and Governor Walz is truly through the roof! With all the extra orders coming through we’ve had difficulty delivering them to the distribution centers on time. If your sign hasn’t come through, or if you’re unsure where to pick it up, email [email protected] [[email protected]] with any questions or concerns you may have.
And lastly, Iowa Democrats are still on a continuous lookout for volunteers – people who love their state and want to see common sense returned to the halls of government. We have plenty of opportunities for people to help, from making calls, to writing letters, to joining our Voter Protection Team. If you’re interested in volunteering with the Iowa Democrats, click the link below. We need your help.

Plan Your Vote
In 2022, over 90,000 Democrats that voted in 2018 stayed home. This year, we have to do better. That’s why we’ve been laying the groundwork for the last sixteen months and now we are rolling out our program, iowademocrats.org/planyourvote [[link removed]] .
Research has shown the best way to increase turnout is by helping voters make a plan to vote - asking questions about whether they will vote by mail, early in-person, or on Election Day, what time they’ll go vote, how they will get to their polling place, and making it clear we appreciate that they are a reliable voter.
The Iowa Democratic Party is asking you to do your part by planning your vote at iowademocrats.org/planyourvote [[link removed]] .
