“My work, particularly with Indigenous communities, has taught me so much, especially in learning from their ancestral cultures, while gaining insight into how they connect with nature, relying on the rivers and the forests for their work, homes and wellbeing. The is why Indigenous people play such an integral role, working with the national government to protect forests and have a say in managing them.
The Amazon is changing in several ways from the clearing of trees with the growth of farming and cultivation, to degradation from unplanned roads. One of the biggest concerns I sense through my work with communities is the threat from oil and mining, and the concerns of the social and environmental impacts arising from associated activities.
This project addresses these threats by supporting initiatives to protect the water, the forest, the species as well as improve the lives of the communities. So, please support us in Protecting the Ecuadorian Amazon, and help communities to safeguard their land in Northeast Ecuador.”
