Friend --
I wanted to make sure you had a chance to read my op-ed that appeared in The Bakersfield Californian. I highlight the importance of directing federal COVID-19 stimulus funds to small businesses, farms, and minority-owned businesses.
Dozens of small businesses and farms in my district and across the country have been shut out of COVID-19 stimulus relief. It’s unfair, and it’s a detriment to our broader relief efforts.
That’s why in the last few weeks I’ve advocated for an increase in funds for Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) — which give critical financial assistance to businesses in rural areas like the Central Valley. I also helped secure $19 billion to support farmers and ranchers during this crisis.
There’s much more work to do, and I outline additional actions that we need to take in the op-ed. You can read it here >>
More soon,
TJ
