Memphis-Midsouth DSA

Hello comrade,

Our political moment is one that contains danger and possibility, and it is in that context that DSA is holding two important meetings in the next two months.

Coming up next week on October 8th is our final General Meeting before our chapter's Annual Assembly. Our Executive Committee strongly encourages attendance at both meetings.

Next Week's General Meeting

Where: RP Tracks

When: 6-8pm; Tu 10.8

Agenda: You will receive an agenda for the General Meeting before we meet. However, here are some things to anticipate will be on that agenda:

Action Items:

  • Solicit nominations for next year's officers.
  • First reading of amendments to bylaws.

Annual Assembly Announcements, etc.:

  • Formation of Nominations Committee for officers' positions.
  • How to stand for election to officer positions.
  • How to offer amendments to our chapter's bylaws.
  • Who can attend Annual Assembly, and how to be a member in good standing.
  • Solidarity Sunday on Oct 27, and workplace organizing postering on Oct 9.

Discussion:

  • Reports from Workplace Organizing Committee and Legislative Action Committee.
  • Report on first Solidarity Sunday on 9.29.
  • Begin discussion of this year's efforts, and planning for next year.

November Annual Assembly

Where: TBD

When: 6-8pm; Tu 11.12

Details: The Annual Assembly is the highest legislative body of the Local Chapter. It will be an opportunity to sum up the previous year of struggle, and think collaboratively about the next one. The Annual Assembly elects officers, debates and passes resolutions, and sets the purpose and operating principles of the Local Chapter. For these reasons, it is only open to DSA members.

You will receive an agenda and more information in the coming weeks.

Q4 Survey

In order to be a member in good standing, please fill out the 4th Quarterly Survey for 2024. It is a super simple form where you simply say whether you plan to be active in the chapter.

In solidarity,
