Tuesday night saw the two vice presidential hopefuls, all-American teacher/veteran/football coach/dad-rock enthusiast Tim Walz and vat-grown, venture-capital gargoyle JD Vance take the stage in New York City for a surprisingly more conventional debate. The verbal jostling between the two was much more coherent than the nonsensical ramblings we usually see when Donald Trump is on stage, but Vance did prove himself to be an equally prolific liar. Hoooooly crap. Vance lied his Silicon Valley-funded ASS off, most notably trying to claim that Trump "saved" the Affordable Care Act (!) when in fact the MAGA cult leader and his Republican enablers in Congress repeatedly tried to kill it. In Vance's book, immigrants are to blame for basically every problem, and Kamala Harris has apparently been running the country the past 3.5 years. It was particularly creepy when the radical, right-wing ideologue tried to pretend to care about women during the abortion segment, especially after talking over the female moderators so much he had to have his mic cut. Gov. Walz held his own in his folksy and eminently likeable fashion, and delivered a knockout blow at the end of the evening when he asked Vance a simple question: did Joe Biden win the 2020 election? Vance refused to answer and got immediately called out for it, which should tell Americans everything they need to know about the odious snake Trump tapped to be his running mate.

Iran launched a huge barrage of cruise missiles at Israel yesterday in retaliation for the IDF's ongoing aggression in Lebanon, including a massive strike last week in Beirut that killed six people, including Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, a close ally of Tehran. Most of the missiles were intercepted by Israeli air defenses, but some made it through; thankfully, no serious casualties were reported. Iran released a statement declaring that "our action is concluded unless Israeli regime decides to invite further retaliation. In that scenario, our response will be stronger and more powerful.” Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu fired back by stating that "Iran made a big mistake tonight and will pay for it." Israel then issued evacuation orders for Beirut suburbs, indicating that more bombings in heavily populated civilian areas were soon to follow. It appears there will be no end to the vicious cycle of violence any time soon.

During a truly off-the-wall, crazy-up-to-11 rally Q&A in Wisconsin yesterday, the disgraced ex-president was asked by the press if he should have been tougher on Iran after their retaliatory missile strikes for Trump's assassination of Qassem Soleimani injured more than a hundred US service members. He responded by asking, "What does injured mean? You mean because they had a headache? Because the bombs never hit the fort?" Trump said. "And if you were a truthful reporter, which you're not, you would tell the following: None of those very accurate missiles hit our fort," he added. "They all hit outside, and there was nobody hurt other than the sound was loud and some people said that hurt, and I accept that." Trump also added that he thought it was a "very nice thing" that 109 soldiers received traumatic brain injuries. Not very nice at all! Way to protect those troops, Donnie.

A shocking new report reveals that US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has run a secretive program for years where ICE agents have trained hundreds of civilian volunteers on how to operate multiple types of firearms, conduct investigations and surveillance of immigrants, and use lethal force on human beings. The program, known as Citizens Academies, includes role-play scenarios for civilians to conduct fictional raids on immigrants and is active in New York and in more than a dozen cities across the country. The program is run by Homeland Security Investigations, the branch of ICE in charge of intelligence, international affairs, and surveillance. “It is a violent and racist program, where people pretending to be violent ICE officers got to hold guns and fire them in role-play situations where agents pretended to be immigrants,” said Ian Head, Open Records project manager at the Center for Constitutional Rights. Why our taxpayer dollars are being used to train citizen vigilante militants and indoctrinate them to use violence against immigrants is unclear, but the House Oversight Committee needs to get an answer to that question ASAP.

The disgraced ex-president has decided to back out of the traditional interview on CBS' flagship show, because they want to ask him real questions and expect real answers. Unlike the Fox News "town hall" host who offered zero pushback after Trump answered a question on economic growth with a five-minute story about how he was named once Michigan's Man of the Year — which, for the record, never happened. The Trump campaign and CBS were also unable to reach an agreement on fact-checking, which network officials obviously wanted and the Trump team most certainly did not. Given how frequently the MAGA cult leader lies, they would probably have had to change the title of this episode to "160 Minutes."
