Bonanza budget fails to deliver for young people and youth work

Hello John,

Despite our collective efforts, Budget 2025 has failed to deliver meaningful support for young people and the youth work sector.

While some progress was made, the €7 million allocated for youth work services, for instance, falls far short of what we had called for as a sector and the budget fails to address the pressing issues faced by young people in Ireland.

You can read our full response in our budget reaction press release “Bonanza budget fails to deliver for young people and youth work ([link removed]) ” and find more detail in our Post-Budget Analysis ([link removed]) .

Looking ahead: campaigning for change

With a General Election on the horizon, our focus now shifts to ensuring that youth work and youth issues are front and centre in political discussions.

Budget 2025 has made it clear that:
* We need stronger structures for youth representation in government.
* Youth issues must be addressed with meaningful action.
* Sustained funding for the youth work sector is essential.

NYCI and our members will continue to work to ensure that young people and youth work are prioritised in election manifestos and the next Programme for Government. Your involvement is crucial.

How you can help now John
* Engage with local politicians: Let them know your disappointment with Budget 2025 and the need for real investment in youth work.
* Stay active in the campaign: We’ll be in touch in the coming weeks with more details on how you can get involved in our election manifesto efforts.

Thank you for your support. Together, we’ll make sure young people’s voices are heard.

Warmest regards,

Kathryn
