Hurricane Helene made landfall along the Big Bend coast of Florida on Thursday night, bringing unprecedented storm surge along hundreds of miles of the Gulf Coast – up to 15 feet in some places. Helene continued north, causing catastrophic devastation in the Appalachian Mountains in Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, North Carolina and Virginia. Across six impacted states, at least 133 people have died, hundreds are unaccounted for and millions remain without power.

Louisianians know the heartache felt from a storm like this and the challenges that lie ahead for communities that struggle to rebuild. Our hearts at Restore the Mississippi River Delta go out to those facing those realities today.

Long after the media attention fades away, communities will continue to need significant help. Below is a list of some organizations working on the ground that you can support as they provide relief and aid to those affected by the storm.
