STARR Collection Closes Soon

The STARR collection closes Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2024.

STARR data submission support from CEPI analysts will be available through 5 p.m. on Oct. 15. Users should strive to certify their data ahead of the collection close date.

The CEPI Postsecondary Collections team will host STARR Office Hours during the final week of the collection. This allows STARR users to meet one-on-one with CEPI analysts to answer questions and troubleshoot their data submission. See dates and times below, and click the links to join.

For more information and technical materials about the collection, visit the STARR web page.

Data Matters: Reconnect Success Metrics

CEPI provides education data to a number of institutional and agency partners, such as the Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential. One aspect of our partnership with MiLEAP involves Michigan Reconnect.

Reconnect is part of the Sixty by 30 initiative and lets Michigan residents 25 and older complete an associate degree or certificate tuition-free.

CEPI provides student demographic and educational data required by the Michigan Reconnect Grant Act Legislative Report, enabling legislators to make informed educational appropriations. Credential completion outcomes of Michigan Reconnect grant recipients are also published on the Reconnect Dashboard, which shows the programs Reconnect graduates are completing to meet personal goals and the needs of the Michigan economy. The demographics of participants demonstrate the prospects for a well-trained and diverse workforce.

One highlight of the dashboard is the Success Metrics: 61.5% of Reconnect students earned twelve or more credits in Academic Year 2022-23, compared to 38.8% of all Michigan adult community college students aged 25 or older.

This Reconnect dashboard is a useful tool for postsecondary institutions, legislators, and prospective students. It also provides accountability to the public as Michigan pursues its goal of Sixty by 30.

MCCDI Data Quality Snapshot

The MCCDI mid-collection data quality snapshot will occur on Wednesday, Oct. 16. It is best practice to have data submitted by this date to help ensure accurate data reporting.

MCCDI will close on Friday, Nov. 1.

If you have any questions, please refer to the MPDI Data Manual or contact CEPI Customer Support at [email protected].

Update EEM Data As Soon As Possible

Entities should make any necessary updates in EEM as soon as possible if they have not already done so to avoid issues with their STARR and other data submissions.

EEM data are also displayed on MI School Data and audited by the U.S. Department of Education. Inaccurate data may adversely affect public reports and result in your entity's information being inaccurately reported to USED.

Entity data submitted to the federal government is audited for accuracy and affects statewide figures published by the National Center for Education Statistics on the condition of American education. These data are leveraged by the Civil Rights Data Collection and other federal agencies.

Accurate EEM data are essential for reporting any other data to CEPI as they are leveraged when reporting student, staff and financial data.
