Conservative Party conference

London Councils hosted a well-attended event at the

Conservative Party Conference in Birmingham yesterday (1 October).

Our panel (see below) explored the topic: The right homes in the right places: A Conservative vision for London’s future housing, with a wide ranging discussion including financing housebuilding, estate regeneration, planning reform, different types of tenure, as well as how the lack of supply in the capital has led to our worsening homelessness crisis.

Jonathan Werran, Chief Executive, Localis (Chair)

Cllr Elizabeth Campbell, Vice Chair of London Councils

Lord Bailey of Paddington AM, London-Wide Assembly Member

Samuel Hughes, Head of Housing, Centre for Policy Studies

London climate resilience

London has been confirmed as one of the 40 regions

selected for the Pathways2Resilience project.

Selected from a pool of 164 applicants, the 40 regions will work with project partners to push climate adaptation forward. Participating regions will deliver a climate resilience strategy and action plan, with an accompanying investment plan aimed at harnessing and widening collective ambition towards climate adaptation.

London Councils and the Mayor of London will be taking part in the 18 month programme to take forward recommendations from the London Climate Resilience Review.
