Sadly, J.D. Vance was calm and disciplined on the debate stage tonight,
even as he advocated crazy, dangerous stuff -- like a national abortion
ban, tax cuts for billionaires, and "better locks" on school doors instead
of fewer guns in schools.
He even kept a straight face while saying Trump is the hero of Obamacare
and implying Trump won the 2020 election.
Tonight’s debate is a reminder for all Democrats: Trump could win.
Tonight’s debate is also a reminder that debates happening in races all
across the nation will impact what voters think and which people get out
to vote.
U.S. Senate and House candidates running in critical presidential
battleground states are playing defense against misinformation and trying
to go ON OFFENSE in their own debates, in ads, and at peoples' doors. If
they don’t turn out the vote, Kamala Harris could fall short.

Tim Walz held his own – making the case that Kamala Harris will fight for
working families while Trump helps billionaires. Walz advocated for
farmers, unions, teachers, nurses, truck drivers, and everyday working
families.
Kamala Harris has made major gains against Donald Trump on kitchen-table
issues that are top of mind for swing voters – like lowering grocery
prices and by cracking down on corporate price gouging – while Donald
Trump gives billionaires tax breaks and tries to cut Social Security.
But this debate showed that Trump, Vance, and their fake economic populism
remain a very real threat.
Right-wing interests that stand to win big from Trump’s plans to gut
Social Security, cut billionaire taxes, and the rest will pour millions
more into key battlegrounds to try to take down the Democratic ticket –
and win the White House, Senate, and House.
