Brand New Congress had a big win last week! Nick Rubando in Ohio’s 5th district won his primary and is now going on to face a GOP incumbent in the general. How did Nick prevail in the primary? A comprehensive digital game gave him the edge.

Heading into the general, Nick’s campaign will need to continue building a progressive digital presence in Ohio that can shift support away from Trump in the general election. 

We also have another critical Democratic primary in Nebraska’s 2nd district that could shift the tides in that state. BNC candidate Kara Eastman ran a formidable campaign in 2018, blowing past the primary and coming within one point of beating notorious Republican Don Bacon.

We know that Kara can win in 2020! But this means making it through the primary so she can once again face Don Bacon in the general election. Voting is already underway in Nebrasks’s 2nd, and like so many other races the Covid-19 pandemic has shifted the elections to all-mail-in ballots. 

This means Kara’s campaign can’t knock doors or meet voters face-to-face so they are hard at work making phone calls, sending texts and reaching people through every digital medium they can. 

Brand New Congress is doing all we can to bring real progress to the halls of Congress this year. We must rebuild our economy and safeguard our communities. That’s why the 2020 elections are critical. 

To do this right, we need to unseat self-serving corporate representatives like Don Bacon.
