Can I share my story with you, friend?
This is a bit of a longer email about my family and what encouraged me to run for Congress. If you don’t have time to read the whole thing (that’s okay!), I hope I can still count on you to pitch in to my campaign to help me fight for families like yours and mine.
My parents grew up during the Korean War, and in 1971, they came to the United States where they raised me and my brother right here in the Golden State. They taught me the true importance of hard work, education, and economic opportunity.
My parents also taught me that if not for the sacrifices 36,000 American soldiers made a long time ago fighting for freedom and democracy, they would have never had the opportunities they had.
That’s one of the biggest reasons I’ve spent my career giving back. I went to law school and went on to work prosecuting corporate fraud. I worked on Capitol Hill as a policy staffer before coming home to California to teach law at UC Irvine.
My wife Jane is still there, running the Domestic Violence Clinic and training the next generation of legal advocates. I’m honored to be able to serve our community in the California State Senate, and we’re so grateful to be raising our kids in Irvine.
I believe in the American Dream because I’ve lived it.
I got into politics because Donald Trump and the MAGA movement are a clear and present danger to the American Dream and everything we stand for – democracy, the rule of law, diversity, and our basic rights. They’re all under attack by extremist Republicans, and it’s up to us to fight back.
The stakes of this election couldn’t be any higher, and control of the House runs right through CA-47. The truth is, I need your help in this fight. Will you give $10, or whatever you can, to help me win this critical swing seat, and take back the House Majority?
Thanks for all you do,
Dave
