MPAC Condemns Israeli Aggressions in Lebanon, Calls for Immediate End of U.S. Military Aid
Washington, D.C. | www.mpac.org | October 1, 2024 — The Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) condemns the surge in illegal military actions by Israel against Lebanon. These deliberate actions, which have resulted in a substantial loss of innocent lives and the systematic destruction of essential infrastructure, are not only reprehensible but also constitute severe violations of international human rights and humanitarian laws.
The Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon have precipitated a severe humanitarian crisis, displacing over one million people, resulting in the deaths of thousands of civilians, with more than 1,800 injured. This violent escalation has severely damaged Lebanon's healthcare infrastructure, forcing 37 health centers to close. The deliberate targeting of civilians and medical staff necessitates immediate and forceful international condemnation to halt further loss of innocent lives and uphold human rights.
The Biden Administration’s unconditional support of Israel has led to the decimation of Arab populations in endless wars in the Middle East. Americans must be informed of these significant events since these actions come at the cost of our tax dollars and the lives of our sons and daughters as they are sent into harm's way.
MPAC calls on the Biden Administration to immediately halt all military aid and arms sales to Israel. It is crucial that the Biden Administration re-evaluates its role in the crimes committed by Israel and the escalation it is helping to perpetuate in the region. Continuing to supply weapons only contributes to the escalation of violence, undermining our nation’s stated commitment to human rights and self-determination for all peoples.
We urge the international community, particularly key global leaders and organizations, to join us in condemning these unjust actions and to work towards enforcing international norms that protect human life and promote peace. The path to security and stability in the Middle East requires courageous leadership dedicated to fairness and the rule of law.
The Muslim Public Affairs Council remains steadfast in its commitment to advancing peace and justice in the Middle East. It will work tirelessly to ensure that all communities, regardless of their faith or nationality, can live in dignity and peace.
