John, One of the most meaningful experiences for me over my time in Congress has been our annual Women's Leadership Luncheon.
The tradition started with my first Women's Leadership Luncheon featuring then-House Minority Whip Nancy Pelosi as our star guest. It continued through the years featuring amazing members of Congress like Val Demings, Lauren Underwood, Rosa DeLauro, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and last year, Marie Gluesenkamp Perez from just across the river.
Yesterday, I hosted my last Women's Leadership Lunch and formally handed the event over to my friend and colleague, Suzanne Bonamici, to champion it in the future.
Suzanne has played a critical role in this event since she first came to Congress – she has appeared at every Women's Leadership Luncheon, helping to set the tone and the direction.
For over a decade, Suzanne was Oregon's lone woman in the delegation. When the 119th Congress gavels in this January, she will be one of five. I am confident that she will continue this great tradition of bringing women together to celebrate outstanding female leaders and inspire the next generation.
We have about 15 days before ballots are sent out in Oregon. And we've got a lot of work to do between now and November 5th if we're going to send Suzanne, Maxine, Val, Andrea, and Janelle to Congress.
Will you split $15 between Suzanne Bonamici and my Committee for a Livable Future to help secure Women's Leadership here in Oregon? [[link removed]]
