Folks, the scenes and stories of Hurricane Helene’s aftermath are heartbreaking.

Communities throughout Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, and the Carolinas are suffering from unimaginable devastation. Many remain without food, power, or water. Tragically, the death toll continues to climb, with over 100 Americans killed and hundreds still missing.

Please join me in continuing to pray for all affected by Helene. I’d also like to thank everyone who sprang into action to help those in need. From first responders and linemen to volunteers and concerned neighbors, it’s incredible to see folks come together to save lives, provide critical resources, and rebuild communities.

My team and I are in contact with folks throughout the Ninth District to offer assistance and resources. Additionally, I’m working to ensure federal funds are provided to aid critical recovery efforts in the Peach State. Yesterday, I joined Georgia’s entire congressional delegation in urging President Biden to swiftly approve Governor Kemp’s request for a Major Disaster Declaration, which would unlock essential funding for counties significantly impacted by Helene.

86% believe the Left has lied about and exploited Amber Thurman's tragic death for political gain.

As you know, government funding was set to expire last night at midnight — forcing Congress to advance a spending measure in order to avert a government shutdown. Unsurprisingly, the result was a clean short-term spending bill, known as a continuing resolution (CR), that extends funds to December 20th. In other words, Washington decided to kick the can of government funding down the road to buy lawmakers more time to prepare and ram through a Big Government Socialist spending package before Christmas. 

Please know that I voted against this 3-month CR, because Northeast Georgians deserve better than the Swamp’s status quo. House Republicans should’ve used our leverage to send the funding battle into — hopefully — Republican territory and to ensure only Americans vote in our elections, which is why I supported the 6-month CR + Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act. As you may know, the SAVE Act, which passed the House with bipartisan support, would safeguard our elections by requiring proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote. While I’m certainly disappointed that we ended up with business as usual, I look forward to combating the Swamp’s runaway spending and harmful policies when the funding fight resumes. After all, the Ninth District sent me to Congress to champion fiscal responsibility and to fix Washington’s broken system.

Jackson EMC Crews Assist with Hurricane Helene Restoration Efforts Across Georgia

Special thanks to Jackson EMC for deploying nearly 50 crew members, including linemen, mechanics, and safety personnel, to assist with power restoration efforts in numerous areas in the wake of Hurricane Helene. Additional crews throughout Georgia and the surrounding southern states quickly assembled to help folks in need. Please take a moment to thank and pray for all the utility workers who have been tirelessly working around the clock to rebuild our infrastructure and restore power.
