If you did not already know, today is #GivingTuesdayNow, a global day of giving to support the contributions nonprofit organizations make to our communities, country, and world. While #GivingTuesday has always been celebrated on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, Americans—in our spirit of philanthropy and activism—are coming together during these unprecedented times to support the work of nonprofits they believe in. 

As you think about the nonprofits who share your vision and work to advance your values, we hope you’ll take a moment to think about the Pacific Research Institute and our efforts to promote freedom, opportunity, and personal responsibility in California and throughout our country.

Although we are still in the midst of a public health and economic crisis, my colleagues and I remain steadfast in our fight for individual liberty and limited government.

There’s no sugarcoating it, we face tremendous challenges today—coronavirus or not.

I say that because PRI’s home state of California is the poverty capital of America—in spite of its massive economic and geographic advantages and the $1 trillion the Golden State has spent on antipoverty measures since 1992. 

The question you and I must ask ourselves is not “How big is the problem?” but “How much are we capable of?” in solving it. 

We must refuse to accept the inevitability of California’s problems. We must work tirelessly to reprogram the way public policy in California works.

That’s why we are so grateful to have you as a generous partner. With your support, we can make California and our country lands of opportunity once again.
