John,
We are readying our Coach Walz signs ahead of tonight’s debate, and we hope you’ll join us in tuning in.
We’ve got some predictions about what might happen on the national stage tonight, so we made a Bingo card—we hope you’ll play along!
The contrast between these two candidates could not be clearer:
-
On abortion: Under Tim Walz’ leadership, Minnesota enshrined reproductive freedom to the state constitution, repealed medically unnecessary abortion restrictions, and enacted a shield law to protect out-of-state patients and providers. JD Vance campaigned against Ohio’s 2023 pro-choice ballot measure, has routinely defended abortion bans, once compared abortion to slavery, and has indicated support for a national ban.
-
On IVF: Tim Walz has shared his own family’s story of using fertility treatments, and he has sharply criticized recent attacks on IVF. JD Vance voted against protections for IVF access in June.
-
On childcare: Tim Walz expanded paid medical and family leave in Minnesota, launched a massive grant program increasing wages for childcare workers, and signed a bill providing free school lunches to all Minnesota kids. JD Vance has suggested that the policy solution to rising childcare costs is for more grandparents to participate in caretaking.
-
On LGBTQ rights: As a public school teacher, Walz helped start his high school’s first gay-straight alliance. In Congress, he co-sponsored the repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), and as Governor, he banned conversion therapy in MN. Vance has said he would not have voted to overturn DOMA, and he introduced a bill that would compromise healthcare for trans kids.
Vance routinely tries to backpedal on these unpopular stances, but his track record speaks for itself.
We’re working to educate pro-choice voters about all of the candidates on their ballot, so that they have the resources they need to vote their values in every race.
If you chip in any amount towards our voter education materials today, we’ll send you a Bingo card to use during tonight’s debate.
Looking forward to tuning in alongside you,
The Vote Pro-Choice Team
