Each month we hold Planning Commission meetings and present to the Board of Island County Commissioners on topics relevant to Island County’s 2025 Comprehensive Plan Update. Below are our upcoming meetings and engagement opportunities.  

Board of Island County Commissioners

The Long Range team will present to the Board on Wednesday, October 9 on the Capital Facilities Element requirements for the Comprehensive Plan Update. Visit the agenda center next week to see the time and materials for this presentation (agendas are typically posted on Fridays).

Planning Commission

Planning Commission on Wednesday, October 2 was canceled. Join us on Wednesday October 16 for our next meeting.

Engagement Opportunities

Later this month, we will be hosting three stakeholder workshops to discuss the Climate Resiliency Sub Element for the Comprehensive Plan. Stakeholders from a variety of organizations and industries have been invited to participate in the workshops including environmental groups, builders, tribes, social services, NASWI, and economic development. The public is invited to listen in and observe the workshops; there will be a chance for the public to provide written comments to inform the process.

  • Sea-level Rise: October 21, 2024, 1 – 3:30 PM
  • Groundwater: October 29, 2024, 1 – 3:30 PM
  • Heat: November 1, 2024, 10 AM – 12:30 PM

Comprehensive Plan Updates

The County has finalized the Land Capacity Analysis for the 2025 Comprehensive Plan Update.
