*Tuesday, October 1, 2024*
The garbage compactor at Olympic View Transfer Station [ [link removed] ] is temporarily down for repairs. As a result, garbage is accumulating on the tipping floor. Transfer Station customers are advised of the following impacts:
* *Customers can expect long wait times at the facility. We recommend postponing your dump runs until further notice.*
* No "end dump [ [link removed] ]" truck loads accepted until further notice. There is no space for these large capacity vehicles inside the building.
* Smaller trailers and trucks will have limited room to maneuver inside the building.
* The recycling area remains open, but lines to enter the facility will be long.
The facility operator expects to complete the compactor repairs today. However, it will take some time to process the accumulated garbage. Long waits may persist through the week for all customers.
We’ll continue to provide updates, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. You can find updates at:

Other services are not impacted
This issue is not expected to impact waste collection services provided by WM, Bainbridge Disposal, and the City of Poulsbo.
The Recycling and Garbage Facilities [ [link removed] ] remain open on their normal schedules. Please note that these smaller facilities charge by volume. They are not designed to accept large loads of waste. Large loads of garbage will be significantly more expensive at these facilities.
Mason and Pierce County residents
Mason County residents should use the garbage disposal facility in Belfair, [ [link removed] ] and Pierce County residents should use Purdy Transfer Station [ [link removed] ].
