Message from Rep. Tracey Mann. Having Trouble Viewing? Click Here. Fellow Kansan, Thank you for subscribing to my newsletter! I am spending time with Kansans throughout the Big First this week. Follow me on social media to see more of my work. I do not serve in Congress to be a caretaker in the slow demise of America – I serve to fight and work to make it stronger. That's what I am doing while believing our brightest days are yet to come. Yours in service, Click below to follow me on social media. Mann.House.Gov In the Office Packers and Stockyards Earlier this month, I filed a comment with the U.S. Department of Agriculture opposing its proposed rule on “unfair practices in the livestock and poultry industry.” On eight different occasions, courts have upheld that competitive harm is a requirement to violate the Harm to Competition Act, yet the Biden-Harris Administration is actively choosing to ignore both the legal precedent and congressional intent of the law. Livestock production is a notable driver of the economy in the Big First District of Kansas and makes a significant contribution to the American economy. We cannot allow the Biden-Harris Administration to handcuff our livestock producers with overreaching, burdensome regulations made in the name of arbitrary fairness. In Case You Missed It: August 2024 Ag Hero: Jeremiah Nicholson Each month, I highlight the life and work of Kansas ag heroes – the people who make our state the pilot light of America and who inspire me to continue fighting for Kansas farmers, ranchers, and agricultural producers. I was proud to recognize Jeremiah Nicholson as Ag Hero of the Month. To read more about Jeremiah's story, or to nominate a Kansas Ag Hero, click the links below. During our meeting, we discussed how Congress can support jobs and drive growth in the Manhattan community, Kansas State University, and Fort Riley. Chambers of Commerce play a key role in supporting local communities and small businesses, and I appreciate the efforts of the Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce to improve lives and opportunities in the Manhattan area. Americans for Prosperity - Kansas I was proud to receive the Pioneers for Prosperity award from Americans For Prosperity. During my yearly 60-County Mann Listening Tour, I consistently heard from Kansans about the need for Congress to pass real, common-sense legislation that provides solutions to America’s problems. While the Biden-Harris Administration ignores America’s needs, I am following my marching orders from Kansans to reduce and reprioritize federal spending and end the weaponization of the federal government. I am grateful for Americans For Prosperity’s partnership in finding solutions that drive America forward and ensure our brightest days are yet to come. Gold Star Families I was honored to meet with Kansans whose relatives paid the ultimate sacrifice while serving our nation in combat. The grit and resilience of our nation’s Gold Star Families is truly humbling, and they deserve our deepest gratitude for their sacrifices. I appreciated hearing each family’s stories of the bravery and valor that their service member exemplified while protecting our country. Our nation's heroes and their families deserve the highest quality of resources and support, and I will continue fighting for those who serve and their loved ones. Institute of Real Estate Management Last week, I met with Institute of Real Estate Management to discuss housing affordability and availability throughout the U.S. Real estate businesses contribute to the growth and development of our local, state, and national economies, and I appreciate their role in housing the world. I am proud to advocate for real estate as a co-chair of the Congressional Real Estate Caucus. Thank you for meeting with me in Washington, D.C. Kansas Department of Transportation I appreciated meeting with Kansas Department of Transportation Secretary Calvin Reed last week. During our meeting, we discussed ongoing infrastructure projects in Kansas and how they will benefit communities across our state. I am proud to serve as a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee to advocate for important transportation issues across Kansas and the U.S. that improve our communities.
