Hi John,
The National League of Conservation Voters just named Senator Dennis Linthicum to their “Dirty Dozen in the States” list, which highlights the worst environmental candidates in the nation at the state and local level.
Help us defeat one of 2024’s worst candidates for the environment. Rush a contribution to OLCV PAC today. Your gift of $50 or $100 may be eligible for Oregon’s Political Tax Credit.
State Senator Dennis Linthicum has shown himself to be one of the most extreme, anti-environment legislators in Oregon. He has earned an OLCV lifetime score of 0%, and holds the record for longest running 0% lifetime score in Oregon. He votes against the environment and climate every single time. If Senator Linthicum had things his way, Oregon would not be on a path to 100% clean energy, and we would not have a climate budget or comprehensive wildfire policy.
Dennis Linthicum is not just terrible for the environment, but he is bad and downright dangerous for democracy. He joined the Texas v. Pennsylvania lawsuit to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in four battleground states. If elected Oregon’s next Secretary of State he would end vote by mail, require in-person voting at local precinct locations, and require photo ID to vote. These policies are not in alignment with Oregon values or a free, fair, and accessible democracy.
Secretary of State is one of the highest and most powerful elected positions in our state, overseeing elections and holding one of three seats on Oregon’s State Land Board. It is absolutely critical that we defeat Senator Dennis Linthicum.
Running against Linthicum is former legislator and current State Treasurer Tobias Read, who has an OLCV lifetime score of 87%. As Treasurer, Read was a key architect of the plan to save the Elliott State Forest, and he introduced a plan to bring the state’s pension fund to net zero by 2050. Oregonians can trust Tobias Read to keep Oregon a national leader in clean and fair elections, and to keep our state lands in the public’s hands.
Oregonians care deeply about the environment, acting on climate change, and protecting our clean air and water for future generations. And on these important Oregon values, we absolutely deserve better than one of the worst. If you agree, please give whatever you can today to help.
Sincerely,
Lindsey Scholten
OLCV Executive Director
