October is Domestic Violence Awareness and Prevention Month, or DVAM. It's a critical opportunity to share information and resources, offer support for survivors, and work together to prevent abuse. Learn more and join us!

Request a Workshop

You can prevent abuse in our community. Partner with Doorways’ Prevention and Outreach Program to learn how! The program uses educational programming to promote a community culture of safe and healthy relationships so that sexual and intimate partner violence are less likely to occur, especially in marginalized populations.

Please submit this form to request Doorways representation at your upcoming events, or to host a free educational prevention workshop for your community/organization. Together, we can create an Arlington free of violence.

Blessing of the Animals

Sunday, October 6th, 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Pets of all kinds (leashed or crated, please) are welcome at this service in the spirit of St. Francis which will be held on the Rock Spring UCC lawn. Music and readings will mark the role of pets in our lives before all pets are invited to receive individual blessings. Gift bags for dogs and cats will be provided, and you are invited to bring a donation of new and unused dog or cat supplies for Doorways. Thank you!

Purple Thursday

Wear purple with a purpose! Purple is the color of domestic violence awareness. Wear purple and post pictures with #PurpleThursdayArlVA to raise awareness about the issue, to show support for survivors, and to advocate for healthy relationships. Remember to tag Doorways!

Family Movie Day: The Wild Robot

Saturday, October 19th, 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Tickets $10/adult and $5/child, including snackpack

Join us for a family movie day! Tickets are just $10/adult and $5/child, and all guests receive a free snackpack with drink, popcorn, and candy. "Wild Robot" will start at 11:00 a.m. and and run until 1:00 p.m. Join us as early as 10:00 a.m. to learn more about Doorways and resources for your family in the community.
