Dear Reader,
At Ballotpedia, our mission is clear: to be a reliable, one-stop source of election information for voters across the United States. We believe that every voter should have easy access to comprehensive, nonpartisan information about candidates and issues on their ballots - without the need to search through dozens of sources.
This week, as part of our Ballotpedia Society drive, we’re highlighting some of the unique elections we’ve already covered this year and those on the horizon for November. Today, I’d like to share two particularly interesting local races that have come across my desk:
-
Lansing, Michigan Charter Commission: In a historic election, 36 candidates competed for nine positions on the Charter Commission. The Charter Commission revises and rewrites the city charter, the document that outlines how the city works. This was the largest single race Ballotpedia has covered to date.
-
Hampton County, South Carolina: Originally, only one county council seat was up for election this year. However, unexpected vacancies have led to three separate races, resulting in a highly dynamic election cycle. So far, they have held primary elections in May, June, July, and August. There are still two more primaries to go in October and November. That makes six election dates in a single year when only two were originally planned. Ballotpedia has been there to cover them all!
We are passionate about covering elections like these and ensuring that voters have all the information they need to make informed choices. But to reach our goal of covering every election in the U.S., we need your support.
By joining the Ballotpedia Society with a monthly donation, you'll help ensure that we can continue to expand our coverage and keep millions of voters informed and empowered. Will you consider joining us today?
Thank you for your continued support.
Best regards,
