This is urgent, John.

On Tuesday May 12th, voters in California’s 25th Congressional District will cast ballots in what many are calling the most consequential Congressional 2020 special election to date.

Democrat Christy Smith is running a hard-fought campaign to keep CA-25 blue. She’s up against millions of dollars in spending by Trump-supported Super PACs, as well as from the National Republican Party. Because of that, her race is now considered a pure “tossup.”

Winning in CA-25 is crucial for so many reasons, but here are two big ones:

1. This is the first big congressional election during this global crisis. We need to send a message that we want competent leaders like Christy who will listen to the scientists and make sound decisions so we can recover from this pandemic.

2. The outcome of this race is going to set the tone headed into November. A win in CA-25 would be a huge momentum boost for Democrats across California.
