Our hearts are with everyone impacted by Hurricane Helene. We will be sharing resources and ways to move money in the coming days to alleviate the current suffering and build the long-term movement to shift climate policy and invest in southern organizing. Climate disasters inevitably exacerbate the housing crisis, and we want to share this message of solidarity as part of our National Housing Campaign with Center for Popular Democracy. “We joined this national day of action with Center for Popular Democracy because we want to live in a world where everyone has enough. It’s gotten to the point in this country where having generational wealth is almost mandatory to own a home, and we just don’t think that’s right. It’s our responsibility to organize our people in the top 10% of the economy to share the wealth, to support housing for all and to transform the economy to work for everyone, not just the 1%. We don’t just want individual wealthy people to share what we have though, we’re fighting for structural wealth redistribution through taxes so that we can use public money for Green Social Housing, health care and education for all.”
