Dear A.,
Since launching Operation Northern Arrows last Monday — following 11 months of near-daily attacks and more than 40 Israelis killed — Israel has effectively eliminated Hezbollah’s leadership, destroyed many of its long-range missile launchers, and disabled its primary communications systems.
But while Israel has demonstrated remarkable intelligence and operational success, the threat posed by Hezbollah and its sponsors in Tehran is far from over, and the war remains in its early days.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant

announced today that the next stage in the war will start soon: "The elimination of Nasrallah is a very important step, but it is not the final one. We will employ all the capabilities at our disposal," Gallant told IDF troops in the north. "We will use all the means that may be required — your forces, other forces, from the air, from the sea and on land."
Lebanese troops have

reportedly pulled back 5 kilometers from the border with Israel in anticipation of a potential Israeli incursion, as Israeli tanks moved closer to the border.
Earlier today, The Wall Street Journal

revealed that Israeli special forces have begun small, targeted ground operations in Lebanon, gathering intelligence and preparing for a broader ground incursion. The IDF is reportedly mapping the sophisticated network of tunnels and other terrorist infrastructure in homes and towns throughout southern Lebanon.

Meanwhile, a Hezbollah official spoke publicly today for the first time since Israel killed the group’s leader. Hezbollah deputy leader Sheikh Naim Qassem highlighted Hezbollah’s military capabilities and commitment to destroying Israel.
"We will face any possibility, and we are ready if the Israelis decide to enter by land and the resistance forces are ready for a ground engagement," Qassem said. "Despite the losses of its commanders, the attacks against civilians throughout Lebanon, and great sacrifices, we will not budge from our position. We will continue to support Gaza and to defend Lebanon."
Throughout the day today, Hezbollah continued launching rockets into Israel, including some that were intercepted over Haifa, Israel’s third largest city. You can watch the videos of the interceptions here:

Israel is facing ongoing attacks and threats from Hezbollah, Iran and Iran’s other terrorist proxies on seven fronts.
We must redouble our work together to ensure that America stands with our ally Israel, and that our ally always has the military capabilities needed to protect its citizens and destroy its enemies’ capabilities before they can harm Israelis.

UNRWA employed Hamas leader in Lebanon
Earlier today, Hamas confirmed that its leader in Lebanon,

Fateh Sharif , was killed in an Israeli airstrike.
Sharif was also an employee of UNRWA, the U.N. agency set up specifically for Palestinians. Sharif was the principal of an UNRWA school and the head of the UNRWA teachers’ association in Lebanon.
Despite

repeated warnings that UNRWA was employing a known Hamas terrorist, UNRWA chief Philippe Lazzarini refused to fire him.
COGAT, Israel’s unit for coordinating humanitarian aid, said in a

statement : "Another day, another UNRWA employee that doubled as a Hamas terrorist. Not just any employee, a school principal. These aren't just a few bad apples, it's a tree rotten to the core."
The problems with UNRWA are grave, systemic and beyond repair. It is a morally bankrupt and corrupt organization, and all efforts over several decades to reform UNRWA have failed.
The United States must permanently end American funding for UNRWA and urge our allies to do the same.

Security Council Resolution 1701: The Diplomatic Solution the U.N. Failed to Implement
[link removed]
The failure of the Lebanese government and the international community to enforce U.N. Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 1701 has enabled Hezbollah to significantly expand its military capabilities, attack Israel, and push Israel and Lebanon to the brink of a devastating war.

U.S. sending additional troops to Middle East
Today, the Pentagon
[link removed]
announced that a "few thousand" additional troops will be sent to the region to bolster U.S. force security, deter Iran and its terror proxies, and defend our allies if needed.
The additional forces include multiple aircraft squadrons and would raise the total number of troops in the region to as many as 43,000.
Yesterday, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin extended the deployment of the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group in the region. A second carrier, the USS Harry S. Truman, departed Virginia last week and will provide a two-carrier presence when it arrives.
These moves send a strong and clear message to America’s and Israel’s enemies that America stands with the Jewish state.
