### **Alabama’s Set to Execute Second Man with Gas**

Alabama is set to conduct its second execution using nitrogen gas, marking another use of this method after the first execution by nitrogen hypoxia in January 2024. 

The inmate, Alan Eugene Miller, opted for this method after a failed lethal injection attempt in 2022, which raised concerns about the state's execution protocols and the potential for prolonged suffering with the new method. 

Human rights groups and legal debates have surrounded the use of nitrogen gas, questioning its humaneness and the state's adherence to constitutional protections against cruel and unusual punishment.
