We did it, team.

Governor Newsom signed 12 major pieces of climate legislation into law -- and they’re going to have a HUGE impact on holding Big Oil accountable and creating a healthier, greener state.

Meanwhile, people across the Southeast are dealing with the devastating impacts of Hurricane Helene right now -- yet another sobering reminder of how climate change is already impacting our communities in ways we aren't prepared for.

This is the cost of the climate crisis. That's why these bills are so important -- because they hold bad actors accountable and demand progress.

Before I say more -- if you’re able, can you rush a donation to support our work? Fighting the climate crisis isn’t a part-time job -- it’s a sustained movement, and we’re in it for the long haul. Chip in $10 today to help us keep doing the work.

Here’s a quick run-down on some of the exciting bills that are now law in California:

The Make Polluters Pay Package -- AB 1866, AB 2716, and AB 3233 -- will finally hold oil companies accountable for the oil wells all across our state that are polluting our communities. They’ll be forced to clean up their mess or pay the fine.

SB 1221 will pave the way for California’s gas utilities to establish neighborhood scale electrification projects. This law is crucial to ensuring that California can transition to a clean, electric, and equitable future that ensures no resident gets left behind.

AB 2875 establishes a state policy of no-net loss of wetlands, which is critical to protecting habitat that maintains biodiversity, meeting the states 30x30 conservation goal, flood control, improving water quality and water supply, carbon sequestration, and recreation.

And I’m so excited that SB 219 is now law -- which means no lengthy delays in implementing key climate bills that will finally bring real transparency to how much carbon the biggest corporations in the world are emitting into our atmosphere.

These climate bills are a major victory for California -- and they set a clear precedent for other states in holding Big Oil accountable and building a sustainable, just future.

Will you contribute to help us sustain this momentum and keep fighting for climate justice? There’s so much work left to do, and we need you on our side to make it happen.
