Dear John,

Senator Elizabeth Warren has come out in support of our Essential Workers Bill of Rights legislation. We’re grateful for her leadership at the national level on rights and protections for essential workers, and thrilled to have her support for our effort in NYC.

Senator Elizabeth Warren on Twitter: I'm glad to see cities taking up the fight to make sure essential workers are getting the rights, protections, and compensation they deserve. The @NYCcouncil should pass an Essential Workers Bill of Rights—and Congress should follow suit.
This could not have come at a more critical time. The first NYC Council hearing on the package of bills -- including hazard pay, paid sick leave, workplace protections, and support for ending misclassification -- kicked off this morning.

Meanwhile, lobbying groups like the National Restaurant Association (NRA), along with corporations like Lyft and Amazon, are continuing their full-court press to weaken, delay, and defeat the Essential Workers Bill of Rights -- even as an Amazon VP quit this week in protest of how badly the company is treating its workers.

We need as many voices as possible in this fight to support our essential workers -- can you join Elizabeth Warren in signing on to support the NYC Essential Workers Bill of Rights? More than 1,300 have signed on, and our goal is to hit 2,000 by the end of the day →

At our press conference yesterday, we heard from Doug, a commercial sanitation worker who just went back to work after being home sick with COVID-19. He is feeling better, but worried about bringing the virus home again especially since his son has severe asthma. He told us: "These bills are something that is much needed to uplift spirits. I’m glad it’s being done now."

Thank you so much for your support,
