Friends,

I decided to run for Congress because it used to be that if you worked hard and played by the rules, you could count on our government to have your back.

That’s the entire idea behind Social Security.

You and your family work hard and the government puts away money each month for your economic security -- for your retirement or for disability coverage if you get sick or hurt.

It’s not an “entitlement” -- it’s something you’ve earned.

President Donald Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell tried to go after Social Security in this year’s budget proposal, but we stopped them in the House.

There is just no reason that programs like Medicare and Social Security should be cut to pay for a tax break to a wealthy few. That is wrong.

Look, I am committed to protecting programs that Americans have worked so hard to earn and to ensuring quality, affordable healthcare for everyone. But I don’t take corporate PAC contributions. We fund our campaign one contribution at a time from real people.

Today, I’m asking you to chip in $5 or more toward our $10,000 grassroots goal that will show Trump and McConnell hard-working folks like you won’t let them or their allies get away with attacks on earned benefits like Social Security and Medicaid.
