Friend: A new poll from Pew reveals that two-thirds of Americans believe the 2020 election will be disrupted by the current public health emergency. And it’s no surprise after what happened last month in Wisconsin:
Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers tried to avoid this situation by calling on the legislature to allow mail-in ballots to be sent to every registered voter, but the gerrymandered Republican majorities in both chambers refused. And there’s no reason to believe that Republicans across the country will behave any differently in November.
They’re intent on disenfranchising voters so they can preserve their illegitimate majorities, and they know that forcing voters to choose between casting a ballot and keeping their families safe will accomplish that goal.
The NDRC and our affiliates are working to protect voting rights by calling on states to expand online voter registration, in-person early voting, and mail-in voting. It’s the only way to protect voters’ health AND access to the ballot box during a public health emergency.
But friend, we’re relying on grassroots supporters like you to keep up this critical work. So if you’re able, will you make a donation today to help us keep up our fight for fair maps AND protect voting rights this November?
