Dear Friends,
As our district is just beginning to recover from the devastation of Hurricane Helene, I have been encouraged by the resilience and resourcefulness of those in our community.
Federal, state, and local resources are being made available, and first responders, utility workers, and emergency preparedness professionals working are working around the clock.
Here are several resources:
Governor's Briefing
Governor Henry McMaster announced that South Carolina received approval for a Federal Major Disaster Declaration to provide federal aid to supplement state and local recovery efforts in response to Hurricane Helene for Abbeville, Anderson, Edgefield, Greenville, Greenwood, Laurens, McCormick, Newberry, Oconee, Pickens, and Saluda counties.
Gov. McMaster will hold a Media Briefing with state emergency management officials to update the public on the state's response to Hurricane Helene today, Monday, September 30 at 2:30pm.
Disaster Declaration for all of SC-03
Damage assessments are continuing, and more counties and additional forms of assistance may be designated after the assessments are fully completed.
Residents and business owners who sustained losses in the designated areas can begin applying for assistance at www.DisasterAssistance.gov, or by calling 800-621-FEMA (3362), or by using the FEMA App.

Blood Donations Needed
The Blood Connection, your community blood center, is 1 day away from losing the ability to save lives—they need your help!
Hurricane Helene has forced The Blood Connection to close some donation centers who have been without power as well as to ground some of their bloodmobiles due to high winds.
The Blood Connection needs you to donate today because their blood supply is critical—your local hospitals like Prisma Health and AnMed will not have lifesaving blood without your donation.
If you give one blood donation, you can save up to 3 lives!
Donate blood or platelets here: https://donate.thebloodconnection.org/donor/schedules/zip
