Free English language program for New Mainers
The Penobscot Bay Language School offers weekly online ESL classes via Zoom. These classes are held once a week for 60 minutes at various levels. In addition to the online classes, in-person conversation classes are available as a supplementary opportunity for enrolled students to practice what they have learned. The Penobscot Bay Language School also offers in-person community classes and tutorials in Rockland, ME from October 7th to November 8th.

Recovery Jobs for Beginners: Fall 2024
Maine Rural Behavioral Health Workforce Center:
This virtual workshop series, divided into five parts, aims to expedite individuals' entry into and advancement within behavioral health professions. Tailored for individuals with personal experience, affected individuals, and supporters, these workshops will offer comprehensive insights into careers related to recovery. This includes an overview of job roles, necessary qualifications and skills, as well as educational and career advancement opportunities within the field.
A Beginner's Guide to Embracing Today's Technology (York Adult Education) is a course that offers a gradual, step-by-step approach to the fundamental technologies that can simplify and enhance your everyday activities. The course covers topics such as smartphones, tablets, and laptops, as well as an overview of email, texting, and chatting. Additionally, it includes guidance on navigating platforms such as Roku, Google, YouTube, Facebook, and online calendars. The course also delves into understanding voice assistants like Google, Siri, and Alexa, as well as using ZOOM, online banking, and shopping on Amazon. Participants will also learn best practices for passwords, logins, and safe browsing, along with how to identify and avoid online threats such as viruses, phishing, malware, ransomware, and more. The course will run on Tuesdays from October 22nd to January 28th, from 6:00-7:30 pm.
The Women Lead program, organized by the Greater Portland Immigrant Welcome Center, is a new entrepreneurship initiative focused on starting small businesses.
