In a moment, I’m going to ask you to donate a few dollars to my campaign. I know you’re probably inundated with emails this week, but I hope you’ll read on to understand why this moment is pivotal to the future of our democracy.
Frankly, I’m worried.
A Trump presidency and another 2 years under a GOP-led House would cause irreparable damage to our country.
MAGA extremists are lining up to dismantle our democracy if they win. That’s no exaggeration – their Project 2025 manifesto explicitly outlines their plan to completely overhaul our democratic institutions and impose a far-right social agenda that strips away civil liberties and fundamental rights.
I launched the congressional Stop Project 2025 Task Force to spotlight and explain the Project 2025 agenda, so that we can stop it in its tracks.
We know that MAGA Republicans see the writing on the wall: they know that their regressive, radical agenda is deeply unpopular with most Americans. Instead of moderating their views, they’re targeting democracy itself – stripping away checks and balances, undermining democratic rules and institutions, stoking conflict and rejecting election results – so that they can simply impose their extreme positions on the rest of us.
Some MAGA leaders openly call for an end to democracy. Others call for a theocracy founded on biblical principles. And some are more subtle in laying the groundwork for authoritarian government. There’s no denying it, John: the threat is real and immediate.
But we can stop it if we unite around the mission to prevent another Trump presidency and save our democracy – if we all step up in an all-hands effort.
That’s why I’m asking for your help as we approach Monday night’s FEC deadline, John. Our fundraising strength will not only help defeat my MAGA Republican opponent, a Trump acolyte who touts wild conspiracy theories; it will help me support Democrats in key races around the country to make sure we have a Democratic majority in the House to protect our democracy and our personal freedoms.
