Dear John,

Immigration has become a contentious topic in our country and state. For the first time since 2005, a recent Gallup poll indicates public support for immigration is decreasing at record levels

Now more than ever, we must shift the narrative around immigrants and immigration—so more humane immigration policies are created locally and nationally. Through our recently launched “New York Proud” campaign, we are fighting dehumanizing narratives and reminding New Yorkers that immigrants are indispensable to the economic, social and cultural vitality of New York City.

Our Photoville public exhibit is currently live in Hunter’s Point Park South in Queens! You can view all 25 portraits of immigrant New Yorkers who are contributing to and enriching all five of NYC’s boroughs. You can also view select portraits in subways ads and wheatpastings throughout the city, as well as listen to participant stories online.

YOU Can Power Immigrant Power!

This campaign would not have been possible without your support—we at the NYIC send you a massive thank you!

While our launch is cause for celebration, our fight is not over. We need to amplify stories like these in many more of our cities to change the narrative on immigration across the state and nationwide.

If you like this campaign, please share it with your network. More people must recognize immigrants as essential to our social fabric, so we continue to grow our movement and advocate for policies that allow each and every one of us to live in safety and with dignity. You can also go further by making a donation to expand this campaign to a new city. With your support and donations, we are one step closer to bringing this idea to reality!

In power,

Su Patel
