Friends, family, and supporters:
Like many, many others writing to you today, on the final day of the third quarter fundraising period before the FEC deadline, I’m going to ask you to support my re-election campaign [[link removed]] , if you’re able.
But first, if you’ll indulge me, I want to share the opening lines of a poem I’ve long enjoyed. It’s written by Thich Nhat Hanh, a Vietnamese Thiền Buddhist monk, activist, author, teacher, poet, and a good soul who I was honored to meet before he passed away at age 95 in 2022.
They don’t publish
the good news.
The good news is published
by us.
What a beautiful reminder that WE are responsible for — and capable of — creating and “publishing” the good news of the world.
Rarely has that been more true in the political sphere than in this election. We are faced with a very clear choice between joy and fear. Between unity and division. Between freedom and control.
I’m incredibly glad to be working day in and day out to choose joy, unity, and freedom — to publish the good news. If you’re with me, I hope you will remember that what we do right now — supporting candidates we believe in, voting, canvassing and phone banking, donating when we can — is what will make the difference come November.
Today is a big deadline in my re-election campaign, and I’m humbly asking for your help. Will you contribute any amount to support my team’s efforts to “publish the good news” and keep Virginia blue?

Thank you!

Tim
