Don’t worry, we didn’t accidentally send you this email a few months too early! While Giving Tuesday is usually in the fall, the COVID-19 pandemic has presented new and complex challenges for organizations like the NCTE Action Fund, and so we are reaching out to you to ask for your support.
We are so grateful for people like you who have, time and time again, stepped up to show your unwavering support of our mission to demand life-saving changes for the transgender community. We have had some major wins, but like with any fight, there is so much more to do.
In that spirit, May 5th has been designated Giving Tuesday Now, a global day of giving in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. We know many organizations will be flooding your inbox today, but we are asking you to throw your support behind our team who is fighting every single day against discrimination impacting the transgender community. From battling against states who want to forbid transgender student-athletes from playing the sports they love, to not allowing trans people to change their names on their birth certificates. We are busy, but we love what we do, and can only do it with the generous support of people like you.

We need your generosity more than ever. Right now, during the biggest health crisis our country has ever faced, the Trump administration is trying its hardest to remove healthcare protections from transgender people. The administration has been working quietly for months to remove a part of the Health Care Rights Law, the part of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) which protects transgender people from discrimination in health care and insurance coverage. Just like everything we have fought against, we will not let this happen. We will work our hardest to make sure those most vulnerable in our community do not face unnecessary and undue burden simply because of who they are. You can count on us to fight our hardest to stop this dangerous plan in its tracks.
