FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE September 29, 2024 Contact: Matt Brodsky [email protected] RELEASE: Statement on the Elimination of Hezbollah’s Terrorist Leader Candidate for U.S. Congress, Dalia al-Aqidi, released the following statement upon confirmation that Israel successfully eliminated Hezbollah’s Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah with a strike in Beirut, Lebanon: [Read the Full Version of Dalia's Statement Here] Minneapolis, MN - I join the many Americans, Lebanese, Syrians, Iraqis, and Iranians in welcoming the news of Hassan Nasrallah’s elimination by Israel. As the Secretary-General of the U.S.-designated terrorist group, Hezbollah, Nasrallah has most recently been responsible for the unprovoked launching of some 9,000 rockets, missiles, and drones from Lebanon into Israeli civilian centers since October 8, 2023—just a day after the Hamas terrorist group in Gaza carried out an unparalleled terrorist massacre in Israel. Hamas’ elite Nukhba forces, who led the October 7th massacre, were trained by Hezbollah’s elite Radwan forces in Iran’s joint operations center for terrorist operations in Lebanon. Hezbollah’s actions were a clear declaration of war, on behalf of Iran, against our ally Israel. Our Israeli allies have every right to defend themselves against any and all terrorist threats. Prior to September 11, 2001, Hezbollah was responsible for the deaths of more Americans than any other terrorist group, beginning with the killing of 241 U.S. Marines in the 1983 Beirut barracks bombing. Since then, Hezbollah and its Iranian patrons have sown chaos and terror around the globe, including in Lebanon where they assassinated the prime minister in 2005 and have held the country politically hostage since 2022. A timeline of Hezbollah's terror, via Tablet Magazine. Israel delivered justice on behalf of the Americans killed and on behalf of many others around the Middle East whose present and future have been hijacked by Iran and Hezbollah. The world is a better place without Nasrallah in it. A wider regional peace is more likely in the future without terrorist dead-enders able to sabotage efforts toward regional stability, peace, and prosperity. Ilhan Omar’s only statement on Hezbollah and Israel came on September 24th, when she declared the only way to prevent an escalation of the conflict is to cut off military aid to Israel “to stop the violence both in Lebanon and Gaza.” In Ilhan’s warped worldview, escalation only occurs when the Jewish state responds, not when Hezbollah launches 9,000 missiles at Israel for 11 months. Her repeated inability to differentiate good from evil, and ally from adversary, is yet another reason she is unfit for office. # # # Dalia al-Aqidi, executive director of the American Center for Counter Extremism and 35+ year award-winning international journalist, is Minnesota’s Fifth Congressional District’s Republican candidate running against Ilhan Omar. She lived in Lebanon from 2007 until Hezbollah demanded she leave the country in 2014.
