For too long, the Electoral College has twisted the foundations of our democracy, making it so that the votes of millions of Americans are drowned out by the voices of a few battleground states.

Under this broken system, we've seen two presidents in recent history, George W. Bush and Donald Trump, get handed the White House without winning the popular vote. This isn't just unfair, it's an outright mockery of the "one person, one vote" principle that is supposed to guide our country.

It doesn’t have to be this way. The National Popular Vote Interstate Compact (NPVIC) is the solution we need to fix our rigged system. This state-led effort would bypass the Electoral College and guarantee that the candidate who wins the most votes nationwide becomes the president.

Once enough states join the compact, totaling 270 electoral votes, the tyranny of the Electoral College ends. So far, 15 states and Washington D.C., representing 209 electoral votes, have joined. We’re only 61 electoral votes away from a truly fair election.

Sign and send a message to your state legislators, urge them to join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact. Tell them that we deserve a democracy where the candidate with the most votes wins, period.

The National Popular Vote would force candidates to campaign across the entire country, not just a few swing states. No longer would voters in places like California, Texas, or New York feel like their vote doesn't count. Everyone’s voice would matter.

Several states could potentially tip the scale and bring the NPVIC closer to or over the 270-vote threshold.

Already, states like Arizona, Michigan, North Carolina, Nevada, and Virginia have passed the NPVIC in at least one legislative chamber. If these battleground states were to fully adopt the compact, it would add a significant number of electoral votes and bring us closer to abolishing the Electoral College once and for all.

With a national popular vote, we can finally ensure every voter, no matter their state, has equal power in our democracy. No more outdated systems, no more losing to a candidate who didn’t win the most votes.

The time for change is now. Help keep the pressure on to end the Electoral College once and for all!
