Project 2025 is a real and urgent threat - every American should know about it and take it seriously.
I came to that conclusion after a deep-dive briefing on Trump’s Project 2025 back in May, when hardly anyone had heard of this extreme MAGA takeover plan. The more I learned about this 922-page blueprint for eliminating checks and balances that hold our democracy together, and rolling back fundamental rights, the more I felt that Congress needed to step up and proactively confront Project 2025 before it was too late.
That’s why I launched the Stop Project 2025 Task Force in early June. Three dozen House colleagues joined my Task Force, representing the full political spectrum of our Democratic Caucus. Our efforts over the past few months have made a huge difference, putting the threat of Trump’s Project 2025 squarely into our national conversation and galvanizing a unified effort focused on the most definitive way to stop it: defeating Donald Trump and winning a Democratic majority in Congress.
Last week was an important milestone in this effort – an historic hearing where members of my Stop Project 2025 Task Force were joined by Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries and other top congressional leaders. We heard powerful testimonies from people who have already been harmed by extreme GOP attacks on reproductive freedom — people who would be devastated by a nationwide abortion ban, sweeping rollbacks of healthcare reforms and worker protections, and other elements of Trump’s Project 2025.
I’m doing everything I can to confront this threat to our democracy and our fundamental rights, but there’s only one sure way to stop it: we must elect Kamala Harris and a Democratic House majority.
