Meet Marcus Maldonado, a 22-year old student leader, who launched a student-led think tank aimed to unite individuals around innovative solutions to society’s pressing problems.

in our country and around the world to pursue what’s meaningful to them, allowing them to take control of their lives, pursue occupations, passions, interests, hobbies, whatever it is, whatever makes their life better or makes their communities better.

Marcus is a senior at Tulane University pursuing his bachelor’s in political economy.

In late 2019, he founded the Wave Center for Policy and Enterprise, a student-led think-tank devoted to unifying public policy, private enterprise, and community leaders around innovative solutions to society’s pressing problems.

Last September, together with the Wave Center, Marcus organized an event called “Totalitarianism and Democracy” with Holocaust survivor Irving Roth, and Gueum Hyok Kim, a defector from North Korea who spoke about their deadly experiences with totalitarianism.

Marcus is also a development associate at Louisiana’s free-market think tank, the Pelican Institute for Public Policy, and he will be joining the organization full-time upon graduation.
