If you want to help me win in November, here are a few numbers you should know about my Senate race.
→ $75,000: That’s how much last-minute funds the DNC announced it is pouring into Maryland (on top of the $250,000 they’ve already spent) to prop up my opponent.
→ 46%-46%: A recent poll has me TIED 46%-46%. Even with all the political attacks from my opponent, this just goes to show how strong our movement is.
→ 37: These are all the days we have left until Election Day. Time is running out to fund the final weeks of my campaign and pull ahead in this election.
→ 1: My FINAL FEC quarterly fundraising is in ONE DAY.
Tomorrow, September 30, we will close the books on the quarter. Then, we will have to report our fundraising total for the past three months to the Federal Election Commission.
Not only is the FEC deadline critical so that my opponent can see the incredible movement we are building, but every dollar we raise right now will be key to funding these final weeks of our campaign.
All of the numbers above tell an important story.
We’re the underdog. We have been since day one, and I didn’t expect that to change.
We have come an incredibly far way, but as outside-Democrat funding ticks up for my opponent, the time we have left until Election Day is quickly ticking down.
At the end of the day there is only one number that matters.
That’s the number of voters that get out and cast their ballot on Election Day.
Our movement is strong. No matter the attacks that come our way, Marylanders know what we were able to accomplish when I served as governor, and Marylanders are ready to bring that same change to Washington.
This race will continue to be competitive every day between now and Election Day.
The more we rise in the polls, the more my opponent will spend against me.
The more partisan attacks that come my way, the more resources we will need on hand to fend them off.
I wouldn’t have gotten this far without you, and I won’t be able to get across the finish line in November without you either.
When I launched my campaign for the U.S. Senate, I did so with a deep resolve to maintain the leadership style and principles that guided me during my eight years as governor.
Fifty years ago, my father, Maryland Congressman Larry Hogan Sr. made a tough decision. He became the first Republican to come out for the impeachment of President Nixon. He put aside party politics and his own personal considerations and stepped up to do the right thing for Maryland and the nation.
Today, Washington is completely broken because that kind of leadership and willingness to put country over party has become far too rare. But it’s not in my nature to sit back and watch the dysfunction continue without doing what I can to roll up my sleeves and get to work.
I’m under no illusion this will be an easy road. But I’m no stranger to uphill battles, and I know I can’t do it without your support.
I don't aspire to be a United States senator. I don’t need a title and I don’t need a job, but I’m more concerned than ever about the direction of the country and I have become more convinced that I can make a difference by taking the approach and style of leadership I had during my eight years as governor to Washington.
It’s no surprise this mindset has made me a target of the Washington partisans. Despite early polls showing a lead, I know I’m the underdog in this race. And that’s why your support TODAY is so crucial.
For eight years, we proved that the toxic politics that divide our nation didn’t need to divide our state, and we got results! Let’s get back to work again and send a message to Washington that will be heard loud and clear across the country!
