John, ongoing conflicts, hunger, poverty and climate disasters around the world are claiming countless lives and tearing apart communities. And millions of children are at the greatest risk.
According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, an estimated 16,456 children have been killed as of August, with the accurate numbers likely to be even higher. In South Sudan, roughly 37% of children are now displaced, putting their childhoods on hold indefinitely. And in Ukraine, 587 children have died since the war escalated in 2022. As tensions have dramatically escalated in Lebanon, children are being killed, injured and forced to flee their homes.
War isn’t the only crisis putting children at risk. Just a few days ago, Hurricane Helene swept through Florida and the southern United States, leaving massive destruction in its wake.
And for kids in poverty-stricken communities, they’re going hungry, missing out on their education and taking on hard labor just to get by.
People like you have consistently shown up for children in moments of crisis, providing us with the resources we need to provide lifesaving care and support worldwide. And with so much work still left to be done, we’re hoping you’ll be one of the 500 child champions to join us in signing our pledge for the world’s children.
