Housing and Urban Development

Pathways to Removing Obstacles to Housing (PRO Housing)

 

Communities nationwide are suffering from a lack of affordable housing, and housing production is not meeting the increasing demand for accessible and available units in many urban and rural areas, particularly areas of high opportunity. Pathways to Removing Obstacles to Housing (PRO Housing) empowers communities that are actively taking steps to remove barriers to affordable housing and seeking to increase housing production and lower housing costs over the long term.

Department of Justice

Criminal Justice Coordinating Council Chair and Director Training Curriculum Development and Pilot

To develop and pilot a CJCC Chair and Executive Director training curriculum. This program is designed to build and strengthen the skills of CJCC leaders and enhance the overall effectiveness of CJCCs.

 

Eligibility:

  • Nonprofit organizations (including faith-based, community, and tribal organizations)
  • For-profit organizations (including tribal for-profit organizations)
  • Recipients, including for-profit organizations, must agree to waive any profit or fee for services.
  • Institutions of higher education (including tribal institutions of higher education).

FY 2024 Build to Scale

EDA invites organizations that support technology- and innovation-centric, high-growth companies (including but not limited to startups) as they develop, demonstrate, and deploy the next generation of critical and emerging technologies to apply for Build to Scale funding. The Build to Scale program aims to: (1) build public and private capacity for entrepreneurs and innovators to invent, improve, and bring to market new products and services in critical, emerging, and transformative sectors and industries; (2) accelerate the growth of regional economies that are focused on industries of the future; (3) empower communities to provide proof-of-concept and commercialization assistance to technology innovators and entrepreneurs; and (4) equitably and inclusively increase access to capital for technology-enabled entrepreneurs.

  • Private, public, and state institutions of higher education
  • State, local, or Tribal government
  • Private, nonprofit organization that has nonprofit status

Environmental Protection Agency

Environmental and Climate Justice Community Change Grants Program

The Environmental and Climate Justice Community Change Grant program (Community Change Grants), created by the Inflation Reduction Act, offers an unprecedented $2 billion in grants under this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO). The Community Change Grants will fund community-driven projects that address climate challenges and reduce pollution while strengthening communities through thoughtful implementation. This historic level of support will enable communities and their partners to overcome longstanding environmental challenges and implement meaningful solutions to meet community needs now and for generations to come.

 

Eligibility:

  • A partnership between two community-based nonprofit organizations (CBOs) as defined in the NOFO or
  • A partnership between a CBO and one of the following: a federally recognized Tribe, a local government, or an institution of higher education.

Inflation Reduction Act Community Change Grants Program

EPA’s new Environmental and Climate Justice Community Change Grants program (Community Change Grants) has announced a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for approximately $2 billion dollars in Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) funds in environmental and climate justice activities to benefit disadvantaged communities through projects that reduce pollution, increase community climate resilience, and build community capacity to address environmental and climate justice challenges. These place-based investments will be focused on community-driven initiatives to be responsive to community and stakeholder input. They are designed to deliver on the transformative potential of the IRA for communities most adversely and disproportionately impacted by climate change, legacy pollution, and historical disinvestments.

 

Eligibility:

  • A partnership between two community-based non-profit organizations (CBOs). 
  • A partnership between a CBO and one of the following: 
    • a Federally-Recognized Tribe
    • a local government
    • an institution of higher education.

Connected Communities 2.0 Grant: Funding for Smart Grid Innovations in Transportation and Buildings; Open to Electric System Planners, Utilities, and Stakeholders

The “Connected Communities 2.0: Innovations to Manage Growing Transportation, Building, and Industrial Loads to the Grid” Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) issued by the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy is designed to address major new loads from transportation, industry, and buildings on the electric grid by providing new tools for users, planners, and operators of the electric grid. This FOA has two major topical areas:

 

Eligibility:

The proposed prime recipient and subrecipient(s) must be domestic entities. The following types of domestic entities are eligible to participate as a prime recipient or subrecipient of this FOA:

  • Institutions of higher education; 
  • For-profit entities;
  • Nonprofit entities; and
  • State and local governmental entities and federally recognized Indian Tribes (Indian Tribes).

Agriculture and Food Research Initiative - Foundational and Applied Science Program

The AFRI Foundational and Applied Science Program supports grants in six AFRI priority areas to advance knowledge in both fundamental and applied sciences important to agriculture. The six priority areas are: Plant Health and Production and Plant Products; Animal Health and Production and Animal Products; Food Safety, Nutrition, and Health; Bioenergy, Natural Resources, and Environment; Agriculture Systems and Technology; and Agriculture Economics and Rural Communities. Research-only, extension-only, and integrated research, education and/or extension projects are solicited in this Request for Applications (RFA). Department of Transportation

Fiscal Year (FY) 2023 through FY 2026 Bridge Investment Program, Planning and Bridge Project Grants (For projects under $100m)

The purpose of this notice is to solicit applications for two funding categories: (1) Planning and (2) Bridge Project grants (a project with total eligible costs not greater than $100 million) for awards under the Bridge Investment Program (BIP). This notice establishes a “rolling application” process for Planning and Bridge Project applications by providing the schedule, requirements, and selection process for such projects for the remaining available amounts of the BIP funding provided by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) (also known as the “Bipartisan Infrastructure Law” or BIL) for FY 2023 through FY 2026, which total up to $9.7 billion (see section B.1 for details for funds available for each fiscal year). FHWA is soliciting applications for the other BIP project category in a separate NOFO available on Grants.gov, listing number 693JJ323NF00019: Large Bridge Project (a project with total eligible costs greater than $100 million).

  • A metropolitan planning organization that serves an urbanized area (as designated by the Bureau of the Census) with a population over 200,000

Community Food Projects Competitive Grant Program

This notice identifies the objectives for Community Food Projects Competitive Grant Program (CFPCGP) projects, deadlines, funding information, eligibility criteria for projects and applicants, and application forms and associated instructions. In FY 2024 NIFA’s CFPCGP intends to solicit applications and fund two types of grants. The grant types are (1) Planning Projects (PP) and (2) Community Food Projects (CFP).

Eligibility:

  • Applicants for the CFPCGP must meet all the eligibility requirements stated in this RFA and provide qualifying documentation to support their eligibility for this program at the time of application. Failure to meet the eligibility criteria by the application deadline may result in exclusion from consideration or preclude NIFA from making an award.
  • Individuals and for-profit entities are not eligible to apply for this program.
  • For those new to Federal financial assistance, NIFA’s Grants Overview provides highly recommended information about grants and other resources to help understand the Federal awards process.

National Leadership Grants for Libraries (NLG-L)

National Leadership Grants for Libraries (NLG-L) projects enhance the quality of library services nationwide by addressing critical needs in the library and archives fields. The program supports projects that build workforce and institutional capacity for: (1) managing and preserving the national information infrastructure; (2) serving the public’s information and education needs; (3) enhancing library and information services through effective and efficient use of new and emerging technologies; (4) improving community well-being and civic engagement; (5) providing emergency services to communities during disasters and emergencies; and (6) building collaborative partnerships between libraries, archives, and museums that benefit the communities they serve. The models, tools, research findings, services and partnerships resulting from these awards can be widely used, adapted, scaled, or replicated to extend and maximize the benefit of Federal investment to libraries and archives of all sizes.

  • State, local, or Tribal government
  • Private, nonprofit organization that has nonprofit status

National Endowment for the Humanities

National Endowment for the Humanities: Climate Smart Humanities Organizations

This program strengthens the institutional base of the humanities by funding operational assessments and strategic planning efforts to sustain and protect historical, cultural, educational, intellectual, and physical assets from the risks of climate change. Projects will result in a climate action, resilience, or adaptation plan including detailed assessments, measurable actions, and expected outcomes. Proposals must address how strategic planning for climate change will increase the organization’s resilience and support its work in the humanities over the long term.

  • City or township governments
  • County governments
  • Public and State controlled institutions of higher education
  • Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
  • State governments
  • Special district governments
  • Private institutions of higher education
