When disaster strikes, women and girls continue to menstruate, often without access to personal care supplies, clean water, or privacy. Periods don’t stop during emergencies.

That’s why UNFPA is delivering Dignity Kits to women and girls around the globe. These kits contain hygiene essentials like soap, laundry detergent, toothpaste, a toothbrush, underwear, menstrual pads, a comb, and a flashlight — all in an easy-to-carry backpack or bucket.

These essential items are prepared in every kit, allowing them to be delivered directly to women and girls within 48 hours of an emergency.

They can even be customized to meet the most immediate needs — winterized Dignity Kits contain blankets and warm clothes to help families stave off deadly cold in places like Ukraine, Afghanistan, and Iraq during brutal winter weather.

Every $15 you give today is enough to deliver a UNFPA Dignity Kit to one more woman or girl in need, empowering her to manage her period with dignity, no matter the circumstances. Can women and girls in crisis count on your gift today?

Dignity Kits in Ethiopia

“I couldn’t go out of my tent during my period as I don’t have other clothes to change into. The Dignity Kit has helped restore my mobility and dignity and also prevent my baby from getting scabies,” Tiemti, a displaced mother of two from Ethiopia told us.

Tiemti is among 20 million people in Ethiopia that need emergency health support due to conflict, climate related shocks, and disease outbreaks.

“I can’t afford to buy pads or soap. I can hardly provide daily food for my two kids. When you don’t have any income, something as natural as one’s menstrual period becomes a hassle. Every income I get goes to feed my family.”

Thanks to the generosity of supporters like you, Tiemti received one of the more than 17,500 Dignity Kits that have been sent to improve the situation of women and girls across Ethiopia.

“I am grateful. Thanks to the Dignity Kits, I can live freely and healthily. I can protect myself and my children from health problems,” Tiemti said joyfully.

Each Dignity Kit costs only $15 to create, but the contents of each kit are priceless to the recipients. Will you make a gift to deliver Dignity Kits to those who need them around the world?
